The Adult Center: Programs for People Over 50

The Comprehensive Senior Center has a new name and a new look.

With the name change to” The Adult Center: Programs for People Over 50”, we broadened our scope of programs and services to appeal to all members of our community. While the Senior Center will continue to provide a full range of social, recreational and educational activities geared to the older adult, additional programs have been designed to meet the changing needs of baby boomers and beyond. Seminars and classes focusing on retirement issues, second careers and new found interests are available both day and evening to accommodate their busy schedules.

This past summer, we extended and invitation to the gay and lesbian members of our community to form a new social club. The GALA (Gay And Lesbian Adults) Group held its first Open House on September 23, 2008. Over 35 people enjoyed an evening of line dancing and “schmoozing.” A full schedule of day and evening events is planned for the upcoming months.

Day trips continue to be a major component of the Adult Center, as they take on a new look as well, and are being tailored to suit the needs of both the older and younger traveler. In addition to our already popular dinner theatre, museum and dining out trips, we have added walking tours and “time on your own” excursions to our already diverse schedule.

All Adult Center programs are available to members of our community over 50.

The Adult Center emphasizes social, recreation, education and support services seeking to enhance the quality of life and to focus on continuing growth and enrichment for our members.

  • A dynamic program for adults 60 years of age and over.
  • Variety of stimulating classes and small groups led by qualified leaders
  • Eight social clubs, with several for special interest groups
  • A year round Jewish educational program
  • Extensive trips and theatre going opportunities
  • Various guest presentations and events throughout the year
  • Ongoing resource and information assistance
